The following pertains to users that have access to create and administer users.

Contents

Creating new users

To create a new user, navigate to Users > Create a new user in the Orderwave explorer. It is important that you understand that you are creating users that will have access to the current account you're logged in to, as well as your default location (such as "warehouse 1").

Each element of the following form is required, and a description of these elements is as follows:

Username

Every Orderwave user will be identified by their username. Orderwave usernames need to be unique across all users and across all accounts. Type a username for your new user and click "check availability" to see if it's available.

Email address

Orderwave requires that each user have an active email address on file. Please enter the user's email address in this field.

Name

Enter the new user's first and last name.

Account level

Each user falls somewhere in the user hierarchy. Each user that you create with user administration privileges will only have access to users below them. Users do not have access to administer users that are adjacent to them in the user hierarchy. It may require careful planning in order to stage your users in the proper hierarchy, so take care in administering this step.

Icon

Each Orderwave user is also identified by a user icon. Icons provide a visual means to quickly identify users, as well as a personal means of expression. For more information about changing or customizing your icon, see my account. Choose an icon that best represents your new user.

When you're ready, click Save. If any errors appear, fix the errors and continue. If not, continue on to administering users.

Administering/Editing users

To edit a users (or multiple users at the same time), navigate to Users > View users in the Orderwave explorer. Once there, you'll be presented with a list of users that are below you in the user hierarchy (you only have access to edit users that are below you in this hierarchy). There are three main areas that you can you administer:

User info

The "user info" is the personal information for the user such as their name, email address, as well as their level in the user hierarchy (relative to your own) and their expiration status. (Note: You can only edit one user at a time when editing this information).

Features

When editing features, you're editing the elements that the user has access to in the Orderwave explorer. Check on and off features to add and remove their access to that feature. When editing multiple users at once, certain features may appear with a gray border around the checkbox. This indicates that some of the users you're editing already have access to the element, while others do not. To give all of the users you're editing access to the element in this state, simply uncheck and recheck the checkbox. It is important to realize that giving access to a parent element to a users does not automatically give them access to all of the elements inside of it. You must assign the child elements explicitly.

Permissions

There are certain permissions that are not based on access to elements in the Orderwave explorer, for example, having access to adjust pricing for items and shipping costs. These various permissions will appear here; check and uncheck the checkboxes next to each permission to assign it accordingly. (Note: You only have access to grant and revoke permissions that you currently have. Other permissions are not available to you). You also have the ability to remove and add the "home page modules" the user has on their home page. (For more information see the Orderwave home page.)

You can also limit the user's access to certain fulfillment locations by checking and unchecking the checkboxes next to each location.

Granting account access to current users

If you need to give access to an Orderwave account to current user, visit Users > Create a new user in the Orderwave explorer, fill in the user's email address and attempt to add the user. The form will let you know that the user already exists but will give you the ability to grant them access to the current account.
